Identity Checks for ACSPs: as easy as 1-2-3

3 simple steps to meet the Companies House identity verification standard

1st step in our Know your Customer (KYC) checking process

Capture information about the person

By following our straightforward workflow on their smartphone or tablet device, an applicant can capture and upload proof of identity and a selfie image and share key information, including address details.

2nd step in our Know your Customer (KYC) checking process

Check it is a real identity belonging to the person claiming it

We validate the cryptographic security features of the document and run a biometric face match comparing a selfie image to the photograph of the person on their identity document. We can also verify current address details.

3rd step in our DBS checking process

Return a straightforward record of the identity checks

We’ll return a validation report assessing the authenticity of the identity document and whether the applicant is who they say they are. This is available to download and store for the required 7 year period.

Authorised Corporate Service Providers (ACSPs) Checks FAQs

What is an Authorised Corporate Service Provider (ACSP)?

Authorised Corporate Service Providers (ACSPs) are registered entities authorised to conduct identity verification on behalf of clients.

How do I complete a Director or Person of Significant Control check?

Individuals can verify their identities through two primary channels: direct verification with companies house, or verification via an ASCP. ACSPs must adhere to the Companies House’s identity verification standards, and must capture and verify a valid form of ID from the list of acceptable documents published on the Government website.

Why has Companies House introduced identity verification checks?

As part of the new requirements under the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act, all individuals forming or managing a UK company are required to complete identity verification through and Authorised Corporate Service Provider (ACSP) or directly with Companies House.

TrustID is a certified Identity Service Provider (IDSP) that partners with ACSPs to deliver secure, compliant identity verification services using Identity Document Verification Technology (IDVT)

How can TrustID help you meet ACSP checks?

TrustID is a certified identity verification provider and we help a growing number of ACSPs to meet Companies House standards efficiently and securely. As an established provider of digital identity services, TrustID supports organisations in verifying the identity of directors, PSCs, and filing agents, whether during incorporation or ongoing compliance.

What documents are needed for an ACSP check?

A valid form of ID which has been outlined in the list of acceptable documents published on the Government website can be used. TrustID can support documents with or without a biometric chip.

How do I get a personal code for a Director / PCS?

The validation report which TrustID provides to an ACSP includes the information required to tell Companies House that you have verified someone’s identity, including name, address, date of birth and email address. Once an ACSP has confirmed this information to Companies House, Companies House emails the Director/PSC their 11 character Companies House personal code and the Director can share this code with their ACSP.

Can TrustID help with proof of address?

Yes if a proof of address check is required, TrustID can provide both manual and electronic proof of address.
