Helping recruitment businesses improve Right to Work compliance with identity checks.

A growing number of recruitment businesses rely on TrustID identity checking services to help them improve compliance and introduce a consistent, reliable and quick on-boarding process for new candidates. We caught up with the team at Anderselite recently who have introduced TrustID Cloud to all their recruitment consultants to allow them to check identity documents from anywhere.

Recruitment business, Anderselite, was established in 1984. They specialises in supplying staff to the construction, civil engineering, rail and IT sectors. Operating from six regional offices across the UK, they support 500 clients and deal with over a thousand contractors every week.  So, they were looking for an effective way to make identity checks and support their Right to Work compliance.

Simon Trippick, CEO at Anderselite told us: “We were keen to establish a robust method for screening and complying with Right to Work checks; for us, it was not just a question of demonstrating compliance, to avoid fines and to give our customers confidence. But our work with the construction, civil engineering and rail sectors also makes it essential that we’re confident about the identity of the workers we place… there could be serious health and safety and security issues if not.”

So, in 2017, Anderselite introduced TrustID Cloud, the online ID checking service which now means that every recruitment consultant can check applicant IDs from anywhere. And this gives them the confidence that they will spot a suspicious identity document before a candidate is placed with a client.

A quick but thorough checking process

“As a business, we needed to make sure we were consistent, no matter which consultant was making the ID check. And that no-one got through the net because we hadn’t seen the right document, missed something suspicious or because the pressure was on to place a candidate at short notice” explains Emma Rapson, Business Excellence Manager at Anderselite.

Protecting the business

Anderselite have found more than 50 fraudulent ID documents in 12 months using the TrustID Cloud service. If the maximum fine of £20,000 had been levied on their business, this could have cost them and their clients £1 million.
